Here's a quick summary of what Poligon has been tracking:
1) HR. 489 - No Religious Registry Act of 2017
Ensures individuals of all faiths are protected from the establishment of a national religious registry
2) S.54 - Protect American Families Act
Prohibits the creation of any immigration-related registry program that classifies people based on their religion, race, age, gender, ethnicity, national origin, nationality, or citizenship
3) HR. 722 - No Funds for Unconstitutional Executive Orders Act
Aims to block federal funds from being used to enforce any future EO similar to President Trump's order banning refugees and immigrants from seven Muslim majority nations.
4) HR.1075 - Freedom for Refugees Escaping Enmity (FREE) Act
Addresses the current EO by stating it will have no force or effect and prohibits the use of Federal funding for its enforcement
5) HR. 377, S.68 - Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2017.
Requires State to submit a report to Congress on the designation of the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist group. Aims to shut down Muslim civil rights and civic engagement organizations in the US by alleging that they are affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood
6) S.662 - NO HATE Act
Strengthens federal laws that combat hate speech, threats, and attacks
7) HR. 1503 -SOLVe Act
Defund and rescind Trump's revised EO banning travel from Muslim countries and suspending the refugee program.
8) S.Res. 118 - Condemning Racial, Religious and Ethnic Hate Crimes
The resolution calls on federal law enforcement, working with state and local officials, to investigate all credible reports of hate crimes, incidents and threats in the United States, hold perpetrators accountable, and bring them to justice. It also calls on the Administration to offer federal assistance to victims and enhance security at places of worship and other institutions of any faith that have been targeted, calls on law enforcement to expedite its investigations into these crimes nationwide, and encourages federal law enforcement officials to improve required reporting of hate crimes
9) S. 823- Protecting Data at the Border Act
Ensures Americans are not forced to endure indiscriminate and suspicionless searches of their phones, laptops and other digital devices just to cross the border
10) Muslim Ban 2.0
The revised Executive Order (now temporarily restrained) barred travelers from 6 Muslim majority countries from entering the US for 90 days (Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, and Libya), all refugees for 120 days, and capped refugee admissions at 50,000.
