JOHANNA MUSTAFA
POLICY & ADVOCACY MANAGER
Johanna Mustafa is the current Policy and Advocacy Manager. Johanna works closely with the Board of Directors and legislative and media team members to develop and execute advocacy strategies in support of Poligon’s policy agenda. She closely monitors policy developments in Congress, and identifies opportunities for proactive responses. Her role also includes, but is not limited to, leading policy communications and outreach work, delivering congressional advocacy trainings, and coalition building.

Johanna has a passion for civil rights work and social, racial, and economic justice. She brings years of experience in national and grassroots advocacy and organizing work with the American Muslim community. Prior to joining the Poligon team, Johanna served as an Advocacy Specialist for the National Network of Arab American Communities. She also led civic engagement campaigns with the Arab American Institute and the Arab American Civic Council. Her passion for social justice work transcends the spheres of labor and manifests in her volunteer organizing. She is a Steering Committee Member with Yalla Indivisible and Transforming Justice OC, and an active Board Member with the Arab American Civic Council.

Johanna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a minor in Law and Society, from the University of Southern California. She’s bilingual in Arabic and English, and when she’s not working towards social justice and collective liberation, she spends her free time enjoying music, painting, and taking long walks on the beach in Southern California.
