Congressional Advocacy 101

Our most requested training is the perfect for those beginning their advocacy journey. During a 2-3 hour in person session or 1.5 hour virtual training, Poligon provides a general overview of Congress, the advocacy process, and how to participate in office visits, town hall meetings, and phone calls with Congress Members and/or their staff. Participants practice the skills they learned through live simulations and receive immediate feedback on their performance. Surveys show that 100% of participants increased their knowledge of Congressional advocacy and a majority felt more confident and equipped to engage their Representatives.
Congressional Advocacy 201

So you've visited your Member of Congress — now what?

This advanced training builds upon the basics we share in our Congressional Advocacy 101 training by teaching attendees the nuts and bolts of how to track legislation and Congressional votes (i.e. what is cloture?) as well as how to take their advocacy to the next level through strategies such as media efforts, coalition building, and non-legislative tools including Congressional briefings and hearings.
