Salaam, and welcome to our March 2019 newsletter! Here's what we were up to last month:
The New Zealand Shooting The entire Poligon team still mourns the loss of those affected by the tragic shootings that occurred in New Zealand. To support the victims and their families, we have partnered up with LaunchGood to help the Muslim community recover. Please help in supporting the United for Christchurch Mosque by donating here. Press Conference to Stand with Ilhan Poligon participated in a coalition that delivered a letter to Nancy Pelosi's office that urged house leaders to include all forms of bigotry and hate in their resolution to condemn anti-Semitism as hateful expressions of intolerance. The original resolution was meant to punish Rep. Omar for her comments about Israel. For the People Act Facebook Live Poligon Legislative Fellow, Ruwa Romman, held a Facebook Live discussing the For the People Act and what a motion to recommit in the House means. Watch here to find out more! Women's History Month & Muslim Women's Day Poligon participated in Women's History Month by creating a campaign highlighting Muslim women who have been making a difference. Poligon also took part in Muslim Women's Day on March 27th, as part of an initiative from Muslim Girl, to celebrate Muslim women and their contributions. Check out our campaign on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook! El-Hibri Foundation Training Poligon President, Wardah Khalid, spent a weekend with American Muslim leaders at an Executive Nonprofit Management Training by the El-Hibri Foundation. We are looking forward to implementing what we learned! In the News Wardah Khalid shared her thoughts in an op-ed for Bustle explaining why having an interfaith response to the shooting at the New Zealand mosque needs to be followed by political action.
